Connecting To The Beauty Of Our Natural World.

Spending our early years in the beautiful Currumbin Valley and then moving to Tugun Beach, QLD -- we were both blessed enough to experience a childhood with abundant connections to our natural world. The feeling of making a fairy house in the base of trees, learning to feed horses, finding a stick to bang on the floor so snakes can hear you coming (not sure if this is an actual thing – but we did it), explore creek beds, use fallen paper bark as real paper – those experiences are still vividly in our minds, almost 25 years later.

The feels that nature gives you as a child are so deep and no ‘toy’ or tech device will come close. There is ample research into child-nature interactions -- which are shown to promote the holistic development of a child’s adaptive, aesthetic, cognitive, social, emotional, physical and spiritual growth. Nature teaches interconnectedness and that the child is part of and dependent on something greater than themselves. A child individually explores feelings, powers of intuition and energy understandings when in nature or in the presence of animals. Nature inspires creativity, wonder and love-filled hearts.

We found the most magical place to visit and experience our natural world in all it’s enchanting forms. Zephyr Horses is an untouched space in Byron Bay housing magical species and abundant opportunities to connect with nature. The children were organically captured connecting, wondering, understanding and appreciating their environment. The interactions with the divine horse named ‘Ziggy’ were free and unrestricted -- enabling their curiosity, love and even fear to flow so naturally.

To give your child the gift of a nature based childhood we highly recommend taking time out to connect or re-connect with nature. Try and make it a daily practice with your child -- even if it’s watering the garden, a run on the sand dunes or a nature hunt to collect some goodies for inside use.

‘Just feel the magic in the air and the power in the breeze, feel the energy of the plants, the bushes and the trees, let yourself be surrounded by nature at it’s best, calm yourself, focus and let magic do the rest.’ –Sally Walker

If you are lucky enough to visit Byron, we highly recommend you spend some time at Zephyr Horses. It was such an amazing experience to share with our little ‘Whole Beings’ and one that will be in our hearts for years to come.
